May 2023
Hooray for May!
Robin Williams once said, “Spring is Nature’s way of saying, Let’s Party!”
I feel that—AND—every year as I witness the earth coming back to life, I think, spring is my favorite. I need spring!
Of course May is a special time for memory keepers—Scrapbook Day is always the first Saturday in May. Plus, opportunities abound for taking photos—photos of people, places and all kinds of glorious things!
We also take action this month with our Seasonal Project—we are in production mode on our montage videos. You can read more about this and download a checklist of everyday video shots HERE.
Print your calendar, mark the dates and begin thinking about which ideas and challenges you want to focus on, but leave plenty of time to get outside and make memories with those you LOVE.
IF you have questions about anything planned, or comments/ideas to share, please post to the Disqus comments section at the bottom of this page OR send me an email.
🌼 I LOVE Spring—and I love hearing from YOU!

Hue & Me
Fuzzy Yellow 🐥 Like a baby chick is our color for May. Did you know … if the adult feathers of a chicken are white, chicks are generally yellow. This color that we associate with the newness of spring actually comes from the pigment in the egg’s yolk and is the result of domestication and genetic selection. And, now you have a fresh new dinner-table conversation starter.
You’re welcome!
Light yellow is the color of warmth, comfort and JOY. Many people in India, Nepal and Bangladesh associate yellow with knowledge, understanding and wisdom.

Design Inspired
Contrast is important to good design and it’s not often that you see a monochromatic floral arrangement, which is why this one caught my eye. Notice how the variety of size, shape and texture make up for a lack of color contrast and create a pleasing arrangement AND photo. Take a few minutes this month to study Lewis’ work and see what you can take away in inspiration and instruction!

Podcast
May’s 🎉 QUESTION: How do you create simple, but memorable moments that celebrate life? Listen in as members of our community share tips and ideas for making life feel special. HUGE shout out to Karen Cummins, Kelli Johnson, Amy McGrew and Melissa Gross who each lent their voice to the cause!
Just like baby chicks, small ideas and efforts grow over time to become something bigger and more impressive. Just like baby chicks, these small ideas are vulnerable—please don’t dismiss them. Instead, sit with them, listen to them and trust them.
They need YOU!
