April 2023
April: Let’s Celebrate!
Cue the confetti and blow up the balloons …
We are celebrating our FIRST YEAR TOGETHER in Live Your Story!
Oprah has said, “The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.”
Isn’t that what we do here? Praise and celebrate life through pictures and words and by gathering and sharing?
I say we keep the party going! AND, if you are new to Live Your Story, we want to celebrate YOU. Don’t be shy. Show up in our private Facebook Group and come watch and be a part of as many of our live sessions as you can. If there’s one thing we know it’s that we need community and connection. We are now all a part of each other’s story in an amazing way—that is something for which I shout, Hip Hip Hooray!
Print your calendar and mark the dates. Let’s push back on perfectionism with a pledge to be who we are and do what we can.

Hue & Me
I’m curious what name YOU would give our color of the month? It is red + blue + white with a little more red than blue and an extra portion of white! We chose the name Wildflower because one of the earliest flowers of spring where I live blooms this color—and it calls to mind words like serenity, grace, relaxation, cleanliness and purity. This color has historical use within the Christian faith as a symbol of Easter. In that sense, it is a color that represents moments untouched by the weary and troubles of years—moments that retain the vigor and vitality of youth. Because of its association with spring, Wildflower encompasses such words as imagination, optimism and creativity.

Design Inspired
I’m inviting you this month to “Make Cake!” and so when I came across this illustration by Olivia Gibbs I knew it was meant to be our Design Inspired. I hope you’ll go learn more about Olivia and as always see if there is something you can take from what she so generously shares. Olivia grew into the confidence she needs to illustrate full time—confidence is something we can each grow into and definitely something worth celebrating.
Love Your Library Video
An Enough Quotient is the key to YOU celebrating your progress with any endeavor in life. Let’s learn more and set some for LYS year two!
Story Process Videos
We are using the original Story Deck cards this month. The 4 cards are: Category = all the THINGS, Start Here = photos, Say it With = conversation and Go Wild = Roy G. Biv.
Watch my process for a single, 12x12 page. Play around with Coolers.co HERE. You can purchase a Story Deck HERE or HERE!
Melissa Gross created her own Story Process video, using the same Story Deck cards that I used—it’s so FUN to see how the same “rails” guide two very different processes and stories!
Podcast
April’s 🎉 QUESTION: Tell me about an extra playful celebration that you planned or participated in. What made this experience special for you? Listen HERE or use the link to download to your computer or device.
I believe in celebrating—BIG, important milestones, national holidays and a variety of silly days—the kind I note on our calendar—but there is so much in everyday life that begs a simple celebration too. A job well done, puffy clouds, fresh wildflowers, following through and finishing that thing you’ve been procrastinating.
We’re headed into a season of celebrations—Easter, weddings, graduations, Mother’s and Father’s Day and birthdays—our 1st BIRTHDAY which we’ll celebrate all month long—but let’s bet better at intentionally looking for other reasons to pause, take notice and give thanks.
I’m so glad you’re here!
