Mandala Dot Painting

What a fun NEW craft this was to learn! Live Your Story member Sarah Bucek, taught us Mandala Dot painting.

For Do It Together we painted our Mandalas in the center of plates with acrylic paint. Sarah talked about choosing a color scheme by first choosing a plate you would like to use and then, if you need help with coordinating paint colors she suggested searching Pinterest for fun color schemes, 3-4 different colors are recommended.

Next, the tools. The tools used for the painting can be as simple as things found around your home like toothpicks, bobby pins, dowels or pin heads, but she also suggested buying a kit off of Amazon that would come with everything you need.

Then we practiced for a little bit, a few of the techniques. Walking the dots, re-dipping tools into the paint to maintain the desired size, dragging the dots, dots on dots were some of the fun techniques Sarah demonstrated.

And finally we created our MANDALAS which turned out to be a wonderfully calming activity that Stacy noted was extremely satisfying and a fantastic means to stimulate our parasympathetic nervous system.

 

Mandala dot painting can be done on any flat surface. Paper, wood, rocks were just some of the suggestions and we also took a moment to view some beautifully talented examples on Social Media.
