July 2023

July is here!

When’s the last time you used JUICY as an adjective in a sentence? I looked up the word juicy and in addition to “full of juice” as in a juicy pear or watermelon, juicy can mean profitable, appealing, interesting, satisfying or substantive …

I truly enjoy creating content for you each month. I certainly hope that as you take in what I’ve prepared, you feel “juicy” is an appropriate description—because July is JUICY!

It’s also NEW season time. Be sure to click over the the SUMMER 2023 page for an introduction to our theme, quote, book and project. And keep scrolling to print your copy of July’s calendar and to find dates, details and links for our five live sessions. I hope you’ll grant yourself a quiet moment to explore Hue & Me and Design Inspired and that you’ll schedule time to watch not just one, not two, but THREE Story Process videos this month—hurrah for Glory and Sarah! In Love Your Library I’m sharing a FUN photo challenge, so be sure to watch soon and print your game board.

❤️ I’m here and I LOVE hearing from you!

Hue & Me

Check it out. Watermelon Red is a hue. According to the free graphic design site, VistaCreate, the Watermelon RGB color is comprised of 82.35% red, 23.14% green, and 40.78% blue. Due to its saturation, it is a versatile color that can be playful, enticing, or whimsical. And as for the fruit, some cultures believe that watermelon is a symbol of fecundity, which means to be both fertile and full of great ideas. This is due to the many seeds the fruit contains. Other cultures believe that if you dream of watermelon, or in watermelon colors, you will live long and prosper.

Off to buy some watermelon!

Design Inspired

Flags create a sense of connection and belonging—flags tell stories and most often represent a nation’s land, people and government. They often symbolize specific aspects of a place and represent shared values and history.

This month take the opportunity to get to know your flag (or flags). I LOVE the global collection of flag data represented in this project.

Story Process Videos

I am using the Close To My Heart Story Deck cards this month for an Everyday Life story, that starts with Inspiration, requires a BIG Photo and encourages at least some Handwriting. Members, Glory Orta and Sarah Bucek have also used these same guidelines and so you have three very different interpretations to inspire you!

My story is an 81/2 x 11 spread documenting Trey’s toughest and dirtiest job ever! Story Deck HERE or HERE!

Glory Orta is sharing a remember when story about motherhood.

Sarah Bucek tells a connected story about chickens!

Podcast

LISTEN to July’s Podcast Episode

The invitation was to share insight and ideas for how YOU will—this summer—practice and improve your photography and/or obtain NEW photos.

Time marches on whether we enjoy it or not. I say we go ALL IN on sensing summer (or winter down-under). Let’s pay attention to experiences and emotions. Let’s slow down and see, touch, smell and taste AND let’s listen to seasonal sounds, our own desires and the people we care about.

🍉 Let’s LOVE on summer!
