September 2024
Sending Summer on its Way!
This is a transition month with shorter days and longer shadows. Fall is coming, but let's push back just a minute and even while shifting routines, hold on to a lighter spirit and a bolder determination to keep having FUN!
In September we'll stay focused on playing, but with an emphasis on what we play with--the things we use to disengage, enjoy and amuse ourselves and others.

Hue & Me
This might be one of my favorite color combinations all year. I titled it Brave Girl because these hues in this proportion say grow, become new, better, more vibrant but do this from a grounded, secure, confident place—and while you’re at it, toss in some exuberant, change-is-good moxie that will see you through anything life has in store!
Is there a story you can tell this month that will require being brave? Can you document in some way a time when you proved to yourself that you did in fact “have it in you?”
Bravery is not fearless. It is doing whatever it is in spite of your uncertainty and human hesitation.

Games, toys, equipment, instruments and implements—what memories do you have of the things you have played with. Have you kept any of these things. Perhaps this month you could do a photo shoot. write a bulleted list or prepare a journal entry. If you had to list three games or toys with a timeless influence in your life, what would they be?

This month for Story Process, I’m joined by Merridy Smits 😀 and I’m thrilled about it. She and are both using the same CTMH StoryDeck cards: Ready: Special Days, Set: Inspiration, Go: Patterns and Bonus: Mix Old with New—to guide our stories and our process, but Merridy is an expert using the Project Life App, so I know you’ll glean from her experience and love her video. We both create 12x12 pages. To my knowledge, the CTMH StoryDeck cards are no longer available, but you can score an original set HERE !

As technology and now mobile devices have become right-hand tools for games and entertainment, I’m inviting you to opt for a more hands-on approach to playing this month. Grab a checker board, a frisbee, a ukulele or invite someone to play croquet or corn hole. How can you engage with someone you love in some good old-fashioned play? Just don’t forget to take a photo!
