Yearlong Project Planning

What a FUN and exciting way to kick off this New Year and Season of Live Your Story! You all showed up and we had such a great turn out for our first gathering of the year. 🎉

As Stacy mentioned in this month’s Live New Month Meet-Up, she will be doing things a little bit different with our Project Play Dates this year.

There has been some chatter about a yearlong class she taught at Big Picture Classes during 2012—it was appropriately titled, Twelve and it was a very FUN and very productive time. Well, it’s been twelve years and 2024 seems to be calling to us in a similar way. So, rather than seasonal projects, this year she will guide us in a yearlong effort involving a stand alone Photos I Love album, lots of questions and 24 personal stories.

An added twist for this project came from LYS member Veronica Norris. She had done a project back in 2021 and she shared that part of her project was checking in with her family members on the 21st of each month to give them 5 questions to answer and a photo prompt for them to share, based on a monthly theme she chose. Stacy is incorporating this interactive element into this project to include those special people in her life.

Veronica was able to join us for the call while on her vacation in Mexico 🌴 and was so kind to answer questions and brainstorm further ways to adapt this project to suit individual goals. She hopes to share a quick video of some of her examples once she’s home and settled after vacation. She will post this on our LYS Facebook Page. Thank you Veronica!

The rest of our meet-up was flooded with ideas and inspiration shared by so many of YOU. Though a little overwhelming, most found a way this project could help tell important, personal stories and it was exciting.

Ultimately, this project is up to YOU and Stacy stressed this many times throughout our time together. This can be adapted to whatever you want and need it to be and we will spend this year preparing, being productive and sharing our Project24.

Note from Stacy

As a quick review, “Markers” are simply images that you import into your digital library, and position—by adjusting the date—to help you visually organize and more easily find what your are looking for. Generally, I favorite these Marker images that I import so that they will show up in a filtered-for-favorites view. I have Markers that visually note each decade in my library previous to the year 2000. I also use markers to note each month and year since 2005, when I started shooting digital. I have these images in place for recent years, but still have plenty of work to do. Using Markers is 100% optional and something you can tackle year by year or as needed.

I have created specialty Markers for noting big events and for the birth of each of my children. I also LOVE having Markers to visually designate specific albums and collections of images, like color.

During our Project Play Date I showed my most recent invention: Story Markers!

I am using these images in a set of 12 albums that help me plan stories I want to document—in the twelve categories I introduced back in 2012.
