Documenting a School Related Story

As Summer comes to a close we gathered for our September Do It Together 🩡to work on telling a school related story with the added challenge of including some kind of connection to another person, time or place.

Four Bears & a Falcon: Stacy shared a FUN β€œcombination’” of her children at various stages next to their school lockers. Although her Addie is going to a brand new High School, different than the other boys went to, she was able to connect their stories with their pictures and tradition …

This is a double spread: 12 x 12 on the left and 8 1/2 x 11 on the right β€” which fits in a specific place in one of Stacy’s US albums, where she keeps her pages. Her background colors were a putty-like locker color and blue for her boys’ high school colors (the CV Bears 🐻) with green for Addie’s new high school colors (the Ridgeline Falcons πŸ¦….) The combinations written next to each child’s photo reflect their birth order and the year they started and then graduated (or will graduate) from high school.

It’s so delightful to gather and be productive in Do It Together!! We heard about a few other school related connection stories taking shape and we are already seeing the final results shared over on our Live Your Story Facebook Page.

I just have to add two of the pages (from Facebook) that we heard about on Saturday during our session …

Raewyn created this lovely story about the pool that is located in her neighborhood school. She wrote on Facebook: Over the last 2 & 1/2 years I have volunteered at my old primary school to archive the school's history and to publish a 50th jubilee book. Because of this work I have had access to photos from the early 1970's and old log books.

I've included newspaper articles and other records on the back of my layout about the school pool and because my daughter also attended this school I've been able to include the photos of her to, to show the connection.

Tanya documented her trusty backpack that is still in use! She wrote on Facebook: I shared the story of this green backpack that was mine from college and that we still use to this day for beach trips. I was thrilled I could find (accidentally!) a photo with me and the college backpack as my husband and I were leaving for our honeymoon. I would have never imagined my future 2nd son would be using it at 16 yrs old!
