Memorabilia Collage!

For this month’s Do It Together and using the spread she is creating from her recent trip to Denmark, Stacy demonstrated how to gather, sort and created a layout using memorabilia.

Stacy took a moment to show us some of the fun memorabilia she collected and how she quickly goes through it when preparing for a layout and how she decides what is most likely to spark a story. She also may include photos of some of the smaller unique landmarks, signs or products that you may discover while traveling.

Carla, brought up a great point about saved receipts and how the thermal printing tends to fade over time. Stacy suggested scanning these things and making a longer lasting version of items like these (see note below!)

Lorna shared that because of the Library of Memories system she was able to find some memorabilia of a trip she took to Minnesota, and was able to do so quite easily even with many of her things packed for a move.

Ileana shared her very inspirational mini book she created, full of wonderful memorabilia from a trip she took to Argentina where she had been raised.

Julie shared a travelers notebook she created while on a trip to Italy last year with her sister and nieces. While on her trip they took time each night to record the days events and when they returned printed pictures and added memorabilia.

Stacy ended our time together by reminded us that sometimes we feel like we have to do these layouts all at once and that is not always the case. Even if you have pockets of time to work on different aspects of a project you’re working on progress is the key.

A Note from Stacy

I love that Carla reminded me during our session to scan my receipt as they are notorious for fading.

TIP: If you have an all-in-one printer, you have access to a great scanner. You can likely just search β€œscan” on the computer that your printer is connected to and you’ll bring up the scanner interface.

For something like this receipt, you can use the default 300dpi setting and simply place it face down on the scanner bed. Push start or OKβ€”once the scan is complete it will likely save the image to your desktop or downloads folder. From here you can print it and use it in a memorabilia collage or other project!
