Workflow Success

Workflow is simply the steps you consistently take to care for and curate your photos. How and when you purge, prioritize, categorize and share you photos is your workflow and the overall goal is for you to gain easy access and familiarity with digital and print images so that you can discover and preserve associated stories.

During our time discussing workflow Stacy asked us to approach our photo categories with 3 different points of view; recognizing the different ways we can search for specific pictures, allowing ourselves to delete and let go of pictures we no longer need and to look for connections within the different categories.

When you use intelligent search—like Stacy did below —or when you sort by a keyword or use facial recognition or even today’s date to SEE a new assortment of images, your amazing brain will be able to more easily discover potential connections and stories.

We practiced and discussed this opportunity to make connections during our WWW session. Stacy shared that for her “connection is quite often the genesis of a story.” She then issued a challenge to spend an hour searching physical category files and/or your camera roll until you find 3 NEW stories you could tell.

Take this challenge one step further by committing to document one of these stories by next week!

Try THIS: Search “Games” in your digital library and SEE what comes up for you! Stacy found two images of two siblings playing the same game (LIFE) taken seven years a part, in 2015 and 2022.

A Note from 💛 Stacy

Yesterday we (finally) hosted a party for Addie’s 16th birthday. Her actual birthday is on July 1st, but we were in the midst of a BIG family reunion, so she didn’t get the party she wanted.

This morning, when I scrolled back through the photos I took, the voice in my head was pretty critical—you forgot the photo at lunch, you didn’t get any pictures by the pool, you missed her blowing out the candles. I’m guessing you might be familiar with this voice?

Please don’t listen.

Yesterday was delightful.

I took Addie and two sweet friends to paint pottery, then to lunch and then home to swim and eat ice-cream cake. There was conversation, laughter and SMILES. Yesterday was just what she “ordered” and nothing I captured or didn’t capture will change that.

This is your friendly reminder to put down the pressure and just acknowledge and accept what is with loads of gratitude.

This is also an invitation to look through the last week’s worth of photos. Pick one or two and add some details to the caption field in the information panel. Note names and places—because, you’ll forget, but then add a line or two about how YOU and others felt at the time your chosen photo was taken.

Now, pat yourself on the back—you’re doing a GREAT job!
