DSLR Cameras

We had a quick discussion at the beginning of our call about DSLR vs iPhone (or cellphone) cameras.

Christy B asked our LYS community:

Do you have/use or still use your DSLR camera? When do you use it and why? From your perspective, what are the advantages of each type of photography? Does it make sense to you to keep you '“fancy'“ camera? Has anyone sold theirs?

Many of you shared that you still have your DSLR cameras, sitting in a closet somewhere 😉 but mostly use your phones to capture and even edit your photographs.

Stacy noted that she too has passed her DSLR camera on to Addy — who is currently taking a photography class and learning how to use the DSLR camera.

We all then took a moment to give a nod of respect to the changes and growth we’ve seen when it comes to digital cameras — their accessibility and capabilities over the years — and just technology in general! WOW!!

Idea & Story Tracking

We then discussed the different ways you are tracking your scrapbooking & story telling ideas. Specifically, do you have a method you use digitally?

There were so many different approaches to this topic. Suggestions ranged from excel spreadsheets, notes apps on phones & digital slides to composition notebooks, sticky notes and storage binders.

Melissa B. noted that she is still using the Trello program — she shared her whole wonderful ideation process during our Wonderful World of Workflow call back in February. If you would like to check that out you can click here.

Lorna S. shared that she will forever be a Franklin Planner user and this allows her to keep all her ideas in one place with the added benefit of revisiting her ideas every Sunday, keeping them fresh in her mind and easy to access when she is ready to record a story.

A Note from Stacy

Guess who just ordered a new Franklin Planner?

Me 🙋🏻‍♀️ I LOVE these Story Coaching conversations. As I listened and then reflected on multiple comments I realized what I am currently missing in my workflow around capturing, maturing and tracking ideas—a permanent place to write, that I will keep and be able to refer back to. For many years, I used and kept planners and storage binders—AND—as I shared in this month’s Story Process video, I recently referred back to my 1993 planner pages and was amazing and grateful for the details I found that allowed me to revisit and tell an important story!

I’ve used a variety of journals and planners over the years, but what I appreciate about Franklin Planners is the design that supports a process for tracking and referencing entries and information. I’m hopeful that I can use my new planner to support what I love and track/organize in my digital library. Crossing my fingers 🤞🏼
