Digital Purging

During this month’s work flow we not only worked on purging our digital photo library but had a great discussion about online storage services like iCloud and where our digital photos are kept when they aren’t on our devices. Because of the ever changing and improving of technology behind photo storage this is a conversation that is beneficial to revisit often.

As we watched Stacy’s workflow process of purging her digital library she demonstrated letting go of pictures that don’t trigger a story, deleting duplicates and consolidating events and stories.

We also revisited her keywords system which allows her to easily search her entire library for photos she wants to use to tell stories.

Stacy ended our workflow session with the same assignment she shares in the Love Your Library video, to find a collection or pocket of digital images that are located somewhere other than your digital libraryβ€”whether they’re on a CD or thumb driveβ€”and bring them into your digital library this month. Don’t wait for a large chunk of free time, but take advantage of smaller more frequent opportunities to manage your digital library.

A Note from Stacy

I LOVED my giant-sized Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls that I found on Christmas morning, 1970. I have a vague memory of seeing them up high on a shelf at a local department store and imagining that IF I got them for Christmas, Santa Claus would for sure be the real deal.

My suspicions were confirmed and I’ve been a believer ever since!
