Utilities & Handwriting Day

Grab your iPhone …

Open up Photos. If you haven’t already, I’m inviting you TODAY to simplify the contents of your Floating Toolbar (all the stuff below your Photos Library when you open the Photos app.)

📲 With a simplified offering of features, we can learn about all the ‘NEW things’ in a less confusing and more doable way!

Here’s HOW to “reset” your Photos app and simplify the toolbar …

Scroll ALL the way down to the bottom of the Photos app, until you see “Customize & Reorder”
Tap on “Customize & Reorder”
Uncheck ALL boxes, except for Utilities

Now you’ll see your Photos Library above the midline and only Utilities below.

When you tap on the expander icon (>) next to “Utilities” you’ll SEE the full list of filtered views or collections available to you in iOS18.

Now tap and select “Handwriting” and ✨MAGIC✨ you’ll see a filtered view of your Photos Library for images that feature some kind of handwriting.

From this—or any other view—you’ll be able to more easily delete and favorite.

📲 DELETE anywhere from 3 to 25 images that feature handwriting today and FAVORITE from 1 to 10

NOTE: During our Live Q&A session yesterday, a few of you did not see “Favorites” listed under Utilities. With the help of class member, Laura S. and Google, I have learned that a very recent iOS18 update fixed this. IF you are fully up to date, you’ll see “Favorites” on the list of collections available in the Utilities section.

✍🏼 Handwriting Day is NOT widely known or observed, but it was established in 1977 on January 23rd, John Hancock’s birthday, because of John’s large and iconic signature on the U.S. Declaration of Independence.

Regardless of where you live, your iPhone will do it’s best to recognize anyone’s handwriting and show it to you in this Utilities view!
