Curating for Slideshows

During our WWW Stacy demonstrated two kinds of simple slideshow presentations available to those who use Apple Photos …

AN INSTANT SLIDESHOW
This super-quick feature is available inside any album you have created. While you may need to allow time for images to fully download, you can play/share/screen these slides instantly!

On an iOS device, just open an album and look for the More button (three little dots …) for a drop-down menu, then select β€œslideshow” (Voila!)

On a Mac or MacBook, look up at the top of the album for the word β€œslideshow” From here you’ll be able to select one of several themes with pre-determined musical accompaniments. While a Mac or MacBook gives you more control, what you can do is still very limited, but the presentation is easy peasy!

A PROJECT SLIDESHOW
is available only on a Mac or MacBook. Look for the β€œMy Projects” section on your Apple Photos sidebar or from a curated album, click on File and then Createβ€”slideshow. With this option you’ll have more control to select music (you have purchased) and order/re-order images. A project slideshow can be exported and stored or uploaded with a link-generating service (think YouTube) so that you can easily share or create a QR code. A project slideshow is not synced between your computer and your mobile devices. It is made and store on only one computer.

NOTE: Creating slideshows in Google Photos is very similar to what I’ve outlined here. There are (of course) other apps and methods to use. Pick one and make it your approach, then practice, practice, practice!

SUMMER Contest!

August is our middle month in this SUMMER season of Live Your Story, which means YOU can make yourself eligible for a contest/drawing for Happy Mail. All you have to do is curate at least 100 images into a collection of your choosing and share a screenshot in our Facebook group, by midnight on Saturday, August 31st. When you post your screenshot, please use the hashtag, #lyscurateaugust

There is already some wonderful sharing taking place. During our session, Stacy curated a collection of food photosβ€”so any topic is up for grabs!

A Note from Stacy

The reason I included the overview of slideshows above is because I got a little flustered during our session and I don’t want to leave anyone feeling confused! BUT, please remember that confusion is normal and to be expected.

Just keep trying and you will be rewarded.

I’ve exported my β€œTravel” album slideshowβ€”which is a work in progressβ€”so that you can watch just a little bit. Notice that I am adding locations to these photos and that I’ve selected my own music. The good news is that you can continue to refine project slideshows. They stay β€œready to edit” in your β€œMy Projects” section of Apple Photos!
