2012 Year Book

Once upon a time, now thirteen years ago 😳 I taught a year-long course at Big Picture Classes called Twelve. About halfway through the year, our BPC team met to brainstorm the idea of planning some kind of event. It’s a longer story, but we ended up following through on one of those ‘crazy ideas’ that more reasonable people would toss out: Hawaii 🌴☀️ in December for a LIVE + Online class designed for the more than 900 students in Twelve. We were crazy, but we somehow pulled it off and believe me, it was epic!

At this event I taught a super-cool 6x8 Year Book album—shout out to Simple Stories who totally supported this project—because just this week my friend, April reached out and asked whether I still had any of the step-by-step instructions—she found her album and wants to finish it. What could I do to help her remember

This post is my reply! I found my album, spent 15 nostalgic minutes flipping through it and created this short walk-thru video. But, it gets better! I also found the complete set of PDF instructions

Even if you’ve never heard of this project or this class, you might want to watch this video for ideas and inspiration—it brings together topics for documenting life and could be applied to any annual album—and while pretty specific to our 2012 experience, the PDF is chock full of insights and tips for planning this kind of comprehensive storytelling.

Enjoy!
