📖 Search the Scriptures!

Oh man. December is busy! I somehow forget year to year how this frenzy sets in, but I'm back today because of the Light The World campaign and today's scripture which is found in John 5:39, "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life"

I'm not sure I can adequately state how much I LOVE the scriptures. Geoff and I get up between 5:30 and 6:00am so we can read a chapter together with Taft before he heads out the door and then I have about an hour to myself to go a little deeper. Before Addie leaves we read a Bible story together. I don't mean to overstate this, but I totally believe that one of the best things I've ever done as a parent is make the scriptures a part of my daily routine because I can then more easily draw from what we've learned, both for my own self-care and to share with my children.

Just so you know, there are 25 verses and candies in The Old Testament and The Book of Mormon kits, and 31 verses and candies in The New Testament kit.

Just so you know, there are 25 verses and candies in The Old Testament and The Book of Mormon kits, and 31 verses and candies in The New Testament kit.

All this is to say that I have the CUTEST little scripture kits that I want to give away to anyone who wants one. Yep. I've made three lists of FAVORITE verses, one from The Old Testament, The New Testament and The Book of Mormon. Each kit comes with a mini book and one candy for each of the scriptures I've noted. The idea is you can reference my list, look up one (or more) verses a day and then eat the candy as a reward, ha! All you have to do is comment below or email me (stacy@stacyjulian.com) and tell me which kit you want. I'll send these anywhere in the world because I honestly cannot think of a better gift at Christmas then inspiring words that teach of Jesus Christ.

Maybe you already know and love the scriptures like I do. Great! I'll send you one, two or three! Maybe you've never been religious and you want to see what all the fuss is about. I'd love to send you any one that you choose. Maybe you went to church as a young person, but aren't into organized religion anymore. Just name your kit! Maybe you've been feeling like something is missing in your life and you're curious about God's word. Email me and I'll send you any or all. Maybe you already know and love the Bible, but you're curious about The Book of Mormon. I'll send you a copy and you can find and mark some of my favorite verses and EAT candy while you're at it.

❤️ Maybe you already have your own well-loved set of scriptures, so that you don't really need a kit OR you find this post after I've run out of kits and you just want to download my lists of favorite verses, all you have to do is click on the links below!

The Old Testament
The New Testament
The Book of Mormon

I LOVE Christmas time and as you know, I love sharing what I love. So, don't hesitate to grab up one of these kits.

With LOVE from me to you!

👂🏼The Great Thanksgiving Listen

Ah! Thanksgiving. Yummy festive FALL-ish food, family, football games, cool brisk walks, new movies, leftovers, board games, naps by the fireplace ... these are a few of the happy memories I associate with the upcoming holiday weekend. But, most of all I think of FAMILY.

Grandma Hall + Addie stuffing the turkey back in 2013. Priceless!

Grandma Hall + Addie stuffing the turkey back in 2013. Priceless!

I grew up celebrating Thanksgiving at my Grandma Hall's house. There was a busy kitchen full of food prep, lots of cousins to play with, a big fire in the fireplace, mixed nuts in a bowl by Grandpa's chair, lots of grown-ups talking and eventually a BIG feast that outlasted even the most mature kids. When we were done eating we could sneak upstairs where the cool air offered a welcome contrast to the too-warm and too-noisy gathering around the dinner table. After all the dishes were cleaned up, the pie, whipped cream and ice cream cones came out and we'd be invited to come back down and sit around the living room. Then there were stories. Sadly I don't remember most of them, but I do remember how I felt and I liked it. I was part of something big and warm and loud and happy.

Now that I'm the grown up, there's all kinds of cool techy ways to make sure the stories told are recorded, so they can be remembered. If you haven't yet heard of StoryCorps, or downloaded the StoryCorps mobile app, I think you should. Here's why ...

1. The StoryCorps app is SUPER EASY to use. It comes pre-loaded if you will with interview topics and questions, so you can prepare ahead of time and know what you want to talk about.

2. All the instructions and tips proven in thousands of interviews are in the app as well. The one thing you need to do is make sure your device has enough storage for the resulting audio file, which can get pretty big. They say you need at least 500MB of space. You also want to give the StoryCorps app access to your camera.

3. Before you begin, the app will prompt you to give your interview a title and add your selected questions right onto the record screen. As long as you spend even 5 minutes becoming familiar with the app, you can't go wrong—it's super slick!

4. It's a good idea to do a quickie practice interview, to help both interviewer and interviewee relax. This way you can check your mic and make sure all is in order. Small rooms with carpeting in them work best.

If you've never heard StoryCorps founder, Dave Isay speak, have a listen. You'll be both inspired and motivated to do more than eat, sleep and shop this weekend. You'll be inspired and motivated to LISTEN and to create history with someone you love!

🦃 Thanksgiving Prep Checklist

I've been a checklist girl for a LONG time, but I've never made me an official Thanksgiving Menu checklist ... until just now.

It's NOT fancy. I don't do fancy. I'm hoping it will keep me on track beginning Monday and help me remember the basic menu/food prep items as well as a few other things (setting table, etc..) associated with our annual celebration. We won't have a BIG group this year, but sometimes it's these years when I tend to get lazy and FORGET stuff.

I'm printing this now and taping it on the kitchen cupboard by my sink.
Take it if you can use it.

Grateful for YOU!
